What local transcription means
With online services, the recording goes to the provider’s server for recognition. With RecSimple, the speech model sits on your PC and recognises speech there. This applies to dictation with F9 and to converting audio files.
What RecSimple sends to the internet
RecSimple goes online to sign you in and check your licence: your email address, a device identifier with the computer name so you can tell your devices apart in your customer account, and the licence check. When you add a specialty, RecSimple downloads its term lists from recsimple.com. How RecSimple handles your data is described in the privacy policy.
How to check it yourself
After the first sign-in, disconnect from the internet, for example by switching off Wi-Fi. Dictation and conversion keep working because recognition runs on your PC. You can work offline for up to two weeks; then RecSimple checks your subscription with the licence server again.
