Privacy Policy

2. Customer account, licence and payment

Recordings and settings stay on your device. The data for account and licence is transmitted to our server: email address, password, account language, subscription status and, per device, a random device identifier, the computer name and the time of the last licence check. The IP address is processed for transmission and to limit the number of requests. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive a user identifier and your email address from that provider; its privacy policy applies to the sign-in. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe; you enter payment details directly with Stripe, and we transmit to Stripe your email address, customer number, language and subscription.

Purpose and legal basis: performance of the contract, including the necessary emails (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); statutory retention of invoice and withdrawal data (point (c)); protection against abuse, in particular the single free trial per person, using hash values of the email address and of the card identifier formed by Stripe (point (f), legitimate interest).

Storage period: until the account is deleted; statutory retention periods remain unaffected (invoices and withdrawal declarations seven years, section 132 Austrian Federal Fiscal Code). The trial hash values remain stored for as long as we offer a free trial.

Provision: Without this data RecSimple cannot be used.

3. This website

The web customer account sets a technically necessary session cookie (section 165(3) Telecommunications Act 2021, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The web server logs access data for operation and security (point (f)); the logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest.

4. Google Ads (only with consent)

On your first visit to recsimple.com you can choose whether we may measure advertising success with Google Ads (via Google Tag Manager). Without your consent this measurement does not take place. With consent, Google processes, for technical reasons, among other things your IP address and browser details; Google Ireland Limited is an independent controller for this. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, section 165(3) Telecommunications Act 2021). Consent is voluntary. Withdrawal at any time with effect for the future via “Cookie settings” in the footer of the pages. We store your choice locally in your browser (not transmitted to us) and ask again after six months.

5. Recipients and third countries

The licence server and the website are operated by hosting providers in the EU (processing on our behalf, Art. 28 GDPR). Other recipients are Stripe, at your choice Google or Microsoft (sign-in) and, with consent, Google (section 4). Where these providers transfer data to third countries, they rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission or on standard contractual clauses; see their privacy policies for details (Stripe, Google, Microsoft).

6. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 15–18, 20 GDPR) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3)). Contact office@smartbit.at. Complaints can be lodged with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at). There is no automated decision-making.
